We launched Hair Colourist with a clear vision: to make exceptional hair colour and treatments more affordable and available to everyone. Understanding the rising cost of living in New Zealand, we wanted to ensure that looking and feeling great didn't come with an exorbitant price tag. Our passion lies in beautiful, personalised colour and transformative Nanoplasty treatments, and we've built our salon around these core loves.At Hair Colourist, we believe beautiful, healthy hair colour should be accessible to everyone. Meet our dedicated team
With a career in hairdressing spanning more than 25 years, Debra brings a wealth of salon experience, knowledge and a genuine love for creating beautiful, healthy hair.
Debra began her hairdressing journey in 2000, gaining valuable experience and developing her skills across all aspects of the industry. In 2023, she took the exciting step of founding Hair Colourist from home, creating a space where she could focus on her clients, her craft and her passion for colour.
Over the following three years, Hair Colourist continued to grow through word of mouth, loyal clients and Debra's commitment to delivering beautiful results. As the home-based salon reached new heights, Debra knew it was time to take the next step and bring Hair Colourist into a commercial salon setting.
This exciting new chapter also welcomed Alyshia as Debra's business partner, together their shared passion for hair, creativity and making clients feel their absolute best.
For Debra hair is about more than just a colour. Her true passion lies in blondes, colour corrections and maintaining the health and integrity of the hair.
She believes that achieving beautiful colour should never come at the expense of healthy hair. Every client's hair is different, which is why Debra takes the time to understand its condition, history and individual needs before creating a tailored colour journey.
From transforming a tired blonde to correcting unwanted tones or helping a client fall back in love with their hair, Debra's goal is simple, beautiful colour, healthy hair and a client who leaves the salon feeling confident.
What started as home-based dream has grown into something much bigger, and Debra is incredibly proud of how far Hair Colourist has come , and even more excited about what is to come.
Alyshia joined Debra on the 1st of July 2025 to open up Hair Colourist salon in Orewa. Alyshia started hairdressing back in 2003 and was at her previous job for nearly 10 years where her and Debra previously met.
Alyshia's passion involves all things related to colour and Nanoplasty creating soft, frizz free straight hair. Alyshia has a particular fondness for Balayage, lived in colour, global colours and hard metal treatments.
Alyshia loves learning new techniques and furthering her education.
